PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Sandy
Bullock - Acting Kitsap Audubon President (Doug Hudson is on medical
leave)

Election of
New Officers:
In addition to enjoying a great program, members attending our April
meeting will be electing a new slate of officers for Kitsap Audubon.
The Nominating Committee presented the
following recommended slate at our March meeting:
Co-Presidents,
Gene & Sandy Bullock
Vice-president, Doug Hudson
Secretary Pro-tem, Helen Stone
Treasurer, Dee Finkbeiner
At-large
members of the Board:
Byorn Kane, Judy Wiilott, John
Finkbeiner, Tamara Stone, Diana
Sheridan and Jim Ullrich.
Additional
nominations may be made from the floor.
Annual Silent
Auction and Potluck:
Mark your
calendars now for
our Silent Auction and Potluck on Thursday, May 8th. Now
is the time to start combing your closets, attics and surplus
treasures for auction donations. Our May meeting will start with
our traditional potluck and silent auction, followed by a
presentation
of scholarships and our annual Kingfisher Award. We’ll cap the
evening with a wonderful program on the Alaska National Wildlife
Refuge. The silent auction is our major fund raising event, and we
always have items of interest for everyone. If you have an item that
you would like to donate to the auction tables please let me know
president@kitsapaudubon.org.
This information would be helpful
before April 30th so that we can plan ahead.
Volunteers
Needed:
We need 4 or 5
volunteers who would be willing to make coffee and bring some
cookies for each meeting. These duties would rotate, so that any
member of the group would only be asked to
do this a couple of times during the season. Cookies can be store
bought, and members would be reimbursed if they wish. I wish
everyone a warm and sunny April, and happy holidays.
Sandy Bullock,
Acting President
KAS President
Doug Hudson
Doug Hudson
has stepped aside as President of Kitsap Audubon.
Sandy Bullock will serve as Acting President for the time being.
Doug has recently undergone hip replacement surgery, and faces
identical surgery on his other hip this spring. Each procedure
requires two months of rehab, so Doug is currently unable to serve
as KAS President. Doug has done a great job as President, so we’re
especially sorry to lose him. We wish him a speedy and
complication-free recovery. With two titanium hip joints, we expect
Doug to bring new mobility to his role in Audubon next fall.

KINGFISHER AWARD SUGGESTIONS NEEDED
Put on those thinking caps! The KINGFISHER Award Committee welcomes
your suggestions for next year's recipient of KAS's highest honor.
This award, to be presented at our annual general membership dinner
meeting in May, honors a KAS member who has a history of volunteer
excellence with our organization. To be considered, the candidate
should have demonstrated the following characteristics:
1. Has actively
participated in the chapter for at least 5 years.
2. Has produced
work of high quality.
3. Has
demonstrated the ability to complete tasks responsibly and in a
timely fashion.
4. Has advocated
for wildlife and for the environment.
5. Has shown a
dedication to the KAS chapter.
Please submit any
suggestions for the Kingfisher Award to the
president@kitsapaudubon.org. Many people work very hard to
make KAS the great chapter it is, and we want no one to be
overlooked. Thanks! We appreciate your help.
