Purple Martin Hour

Registration is NOT required but if you want to let us know you are coming sign-up here: https://www.mobilize.us/audubon-chapters/event/943643/

Looking for a peaceful way to connect with nature right in the heart of Poulsbo? Whether you're a seasoned birder or just curious about the chatter coming from the marina pilings, we invite you to join us for Purple Martin Hour.

Our local Purple Martin Stewards, Robert & Sandy Pavey & Catherine Ward, will be dockside at Oyster Plant Park for our monthly data collection and colony check-in. This is a low-key, focused hour dedicated entirely to these remarkable aerial acrobats. No hiking or traveling required—just pull up a spot and enjoy the view!

What to Expect:

  • Up-Close Glimpses: Get a front-row seat to the Martins as they dive, socialize, and tend to their nests.

  • Science in Action: Watch our stewards perform monthly data recording and learn how we monitor the health of the colonies.

  • Good Conversation: Ask questions, share observations, and chat with neighbors who are passionate about local wildlife.

  • Learning Opportunities: Discover why these birds are so vital to our ecosystem and what it takes to support a thriving colony in Poulsbo.

  • Excellent Photograph Opportunity: Bring out the cameras and take some amazing pics. Help us show off the dazzling colors of the Martins.

The Details

  • Location: Oyster Plant Park, Poulsbo, WA.

  • Cost: Free and open to the public.
