The Return to Theler: A Spring Migration Celebration

Join Kitsap Audubon for an annual spring favorite at the stunning Mary E. Theler Wetlands in Belfair! On Saturday, May 23rd, we’ll gather at the water’s edge to welcome the season’s most vibrant travelers.

Led by expert birders Al and Carolyn Westphal, we’ll explore the boardwalks and river estuary trails as the wetlands come alive with the songs of arriving swallows, warblers, and vireos. From the tidal flats to the forest edge, this is prime time to see both our colorful migratory visitors and our steadfast year-round residents in action.

When: Saturday, May 23rd | Starting around 8:00 AM (Final time confirmed upon registration).

The Trek: A few hours of exploration across several miles of well-maintained trails and scenic boardwalks. Note: Includes one short but moderately steep stretch.
