Flight Fest Soars to Success in Silverdale!
The Kitsap Audubon Society is thrilled to report that our recent Flight Fest event at the Silverdale Kitsap Regional Library (KRL) was a phenomenal success! We saw fantastic community participation, strong collaboration, and exciting plans laid for the future of local bird conservation programs.
🌟 Great Turnout, Great Information
The energy in the library was buzzing! We had at least 187 participants pass through—that was the tally on the counter, and we know we started counting late! It was wonderful to see so many families, and especially the kids, who enthusiastically picked up bird masks and engaged with the activities.
A huge part of the event's success was the valuable, actionable information provided by Wild Hope. Their video focused on a critical issue: window collision deterrents. Kitsap Regional Library provided excellent, valuable handouts with tips for homeowners on adding spots or lines to windows, along with wonderful little birding pocket books focused specifically on Kitsap species. This is exactly the kind of local, hands-on conservation education we love to support.
🤝 Building Our KRL Partnership
The most exciting part of the day was the deepening collaboration with our local libraries. Kitsap Audubon is excited to lend support and expertise to future bird and conservation-focused events and activities.
🙏 Thank You to Our Volunteers
A huge thank you to our volunteers who made the day run smoothly:
Eric, who, despite his heavy Master’s program workload, made time to help run the table and capture some great photos of the day’s activities.
Sam Corry, an active member of the AWE Club, for his invaluable assistance manning the table.
Thank you to everyone who came out to learn and celebrate our feathered neighbors. The success of Flight Fest proves that the Kitsap community is eager to engage with bird conservation, and we look forward to many more collaborations with the Silverdale Library!
